Rooted in Scotland, built for the future.

Boortmalt is proud to announce the opening of Soitheach Eòrna Shrath Spè, our new 580-tonne germination vessel in Buckie.

The name pays tribute to the River Spey and the surrounding land of Strathspey, whose waters supply the region's distilleries and the fields of Scotland that grow the malting barley at the heart of Scotch whisky. This major investment enhances our malt production capacity while improving operational efficiency and reducing energy consumption.

As whisky laid down today may not be enjoyed for years to come, distillers need a malt partner that can match that long-term vision. Delivered in just 12 months while the maltings remained fully operational, the new vessel reflects our commitment to supporting the long-term growth of the Scotch whisky industry through improved energy efficiency.

A heartfelt thank you to our employees, customers, project partners and the local community whose commitment and collaboration helped bring this project to life.
