Main tasks

As the HR Business Partner for Ethiopia you will be responsible for the implementation of the HR strategy in all Boortmalt facilities in Ethiopia, in alignment with the HR Group strategy and guidelines from the HR & Communication Manager Ethiopia.

You will be the first point of contact for our employees and union delegations. You also act as the payroll manager, ensuring payroll is processed on time and accurately.

You will be based in our production site in Debre Bihran and will report directly to the HR & Communication Manager Ethiopia.

As the HR Business Partner for Ethiopia, your key responsibilities will be:

HR Strategy and Performance Management:

  • Support the HR & Communications Manager in cultivating high performance and top talent.
  • Drive clear and actionable mid-year and year-end performance reviews.
  • Promote company culture and values.

Operational Support:

  • Consult operational management in maintaining a safe and engaging work environment.
  • Manage HR Information System data.

Employee Relations and Communication:

  • Assist line managers in employee relations and communication, resolving performance or other concerns.
  • Proactively manage employee relation issues, conduct investigations, and provide guidance to managers.
  • Manage contracts and relationships with external labor organizations.

Recruitment and Onboarding:

  • Ensure timely filling of open roles in accordance with recruitment strategy.
  • Manage HR processes from onboarding to termination.

Training and Development:

  • Facilitate local training programs in compliance with Group T&D Strategy.

Compliance and Legal:

  • Ensure compliance with federal and provincial laws.
  • Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Coach leadership on compensation philosophy and empower managers.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on basic compensation matters.
  • Manage payroll and benefits, ensuring timely and accurate processing and manage all employee files and payroll records.
  • Set up, manage, and maintain payroll systems, processes, procedures, and policies.
  • Serve as liaison with outside benefit providers to resolve issues.

Master we are looking for ?

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, labor law, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in payroll, compensation, and benefits.
  • Proven experience in an HR Business Partner role, preferably in an international setting.
  • Ability to understand and translate business priorities, integrating HR value propositions and strategies to meet organizational needs.
  • Strong social and interpersonal skills.
  • High degree of confidentiality and integrity.
  • Team player with excellent organizational and leadership capabilities.
  • Effective change management skills.
  • Fluency in English and Amharic.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with familiarity in HR Information Systems.
