Main tasks
As the SHE Specialist UK/IRE you will assists with ensuring SHE standards across all UK/IRE sites in order to comply with current regulations and law, to guarantee the physical integrity of people and facilities within the site and minimize environmental impact. You will assist with ensuring that the requirements are met for the overall business requirements and that of the applicable international standards which the business is certified to.
Your responsibilities are but not limited;
- You will champion the development of line management SHE management competence, behavioral and autonomous safety management.
- You will work closely with each site to drive the improvement of the safety culture in line with the company values.
- You will build strong relationships with site management teams and will engage employees in identifying hazards, conducting risk assessments and the promotion of a positive safety culture.
- Working with local management to ensure that the UK / IRE sites are consistently prepared for unannounced inspections by enforcing authorities and audits in relation to our current accreditations and those we are working towards.
- Maintaining the legal register to track that measures are in place to meet all legal compliance obligations with regard to health, safety and environmental legislation.
- Ensure that sites maintain action trackers, or other means, to ensure that identified recommendations or gaps are owned and progressed accordingly.
- Organise and execute activities such as training and occupational health screenings.
- In consultation with site and line managers, carry out investigations of incidents and working with line managers to ensure that corrective actions are closed out.
- Proactively drive SHE improvement projects across the UK and Ireland.
- Assist local site management with budget preparation for SHE requirements.
- Point of contact for enforcing authorities, auditors and insurers.
- Ensure maintenance of SHE Management and Contractor Control portal requirements.
- Produce monthly overview reports on local and regional SHE performance.
- Fully participate & contribute to group SHE team meetings and requirements in line with group objectives and initiatives.
Master we are looking for ?
- You hold Nebosh Diploma (or equivalent) or Nebosh General Certifcate & working towards / willing to complete the diploma qualification.
- You hold an IEMA Environmental Management qualification with experience working on an IPPC regulated site.
- You have at least 2 years’ experience in a similar position and ideally in a multi-site role, with a focus on SHE including culture / behavioral safety development.
- Experience in maintaining ISO45001:2018 & ISO14001:2015 is desirable.
- Experience within malting or similar industry.
- Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and in use of Power BI.
- Strong stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
