Main tasks

As Production Manager you lead the production team at the Strasbourg plant in charge of safely producing and delivering malt according to customer specifications, within established budgets and in conformance with all relevant Boortmalt's corporate policies and procedures. You report directly to the plant manager.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Malt Production
• Plan, Lead and monitor daily production activities with responsibility including off shifts and weekends.
• Set and adjust daily production parameters (recipes), blending, storage and preparation of both barley and malt.
• Process troubleshooting including water use, energy consumption, yield, and performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
• Participate in customer, supply and production meetings.
• Report progress to Plant Manager
• Malt production needs to meet budget figures in terms of quantity, yield, energy consumption, overall cost, customer requirements and legal / regulatory requirements.

Stock Management
• Responsible to guaranteeing a minimum stock of malt in specifications for each customer
• Manage and/or supervises barley and malt on hand, customer specifications planning (barley and malt requirements to meet customer specifications), and assigning lots for barley and malt into bins.

People Management
• Assesses training and development needs for operators (production and silo operators) and executes on an established training plan.
• Perform Intermediate and Annual Operators evaluation (EPR).
• Actively participates in follow up on engagement improvement plans
• Leading directly and/or through Production Operators to work following all Safety and Food Safety Policies, meeting Customer needs, internal specifications and established Plant performance metrics.

SHE
• Champion, support and is a role model for safety programs and practices throughout operations :
• Food safety (HACCP) & SHE champion and reference.
• Support (food) and role model safety programs and practices throughout operations in partnership with the Maintenance Team, Automation Supervisor, Plant Manager and Regional SHE Manager.
• Review and measure performance ensuring successes and deviations are acknowledged and addressed.
• Inspect plant areas for safety and sanitation and report necessary needs to the Plant Manager.
• Participate in Monthly SHE meeting animation

• Be an active participant in the plants continuous improvement plan (energy consumption, yield, volume, cost, improvement, …). Active participation in Reliability Excellence programs.

Master we are looking for ?

• Master’s degree in Food Engineering, Bio-Chemical Engineering, Agronomical / Agricultural Sciences, Malting/Brewing or equivalent related field.
• 3-5 years of practical working experience
• Demonstrated ability to lead and influence people with a willingness to manage conflict
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal
• Proven experience in prioritizing work and meeting deadlines
• Flexibility; able to cope with fast changes within a growing company
• People management qualifications/experience
• Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver results with the appropriate behaviours (e.g. safety).
• Demonstrated ability to generate innovative/creative ideas and move them into implementation.
• Fluently in French and English
