Main tasks
The General Ledger (GL) Accountant is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records. This role involves managing the general ledger, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the month-end and year-end closing processes.
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger Management
- Maintain and update the general ledger accounts.
- Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts on a regular basis.
Month-End and Year-End Closing
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements.
- Ensure timely and accurate closing of the books.
VAT Management
- Prepare and submit VAT returns to tax authorities.
- Reconcile VAT accounts with the general ledger.
- Ensure timely payment and accurate reporting of VAT liabilities.
- Provide VAT-related advice and support to other departments.
- Monitor changes in VAT regulations and ensure compliance.
- Handle VAT audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
Financial Reporting
- Generate and analyze financial reports.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
Compliance and Audit
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Implement and maintain internal controls.
Process Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline financial operations.
Ad Hoc Analysis
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis as required.
- Support special projects and initiatives.
Master we are looking for ?
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance.
- Proficiency in accounting software, knowledge of Oracle - JDE is a plus, and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Fluently in Dutch or English
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
