On Oct 16th Boortmalt and Menapy signed an agreement to construct a large solar carport that will cover the new parking area in Antwerp.

The solar carport can generate 900 kWp of solar energy which will be used to charge around 60 (can be extended) electrical cars on site. The remainder of the electricity produced will be injected and sold to the grid.

Dependent on the positive outcome of the construction permit, the solar car park is expected to become operational in spring 2020.

A few advantages of the new Solar Car park:

  • Constructive use of existing space
  • Electric cars can be charged using locally produced ‘green’ Solar electricity
  • Shade & comfort: cars will heat up less during hot summer days and are protected against rain and snow
  • Another project supporting our CO2 reduction agenda
