Main tasks

For this new International assignment as Agronomical Project and Innovation Manager you are based in Debre Birhan, Ethiopia. In collaboration with Boortmalt Group and its expert consultants you will communicate, promote and implement the Scope 3 initiatives.

EXPLORE: innovate and explore new technologies and modalities, targeting performance improvement of the malting barley cultivation, and our raw material margins.

In this role, you will be the responsible person for:

Apply the safety rules, and propose enhancement.
Evaluate agro-technological practices and the quality of the production, gap analysis between the technical manual and training materials, and the actual field practices.
Propose, implement and evaluate technological pilots, partnering with the Barley Expert, targeting yield and quality improvement, especially for the small-grain issue.
Partner with the Barley Expert in the variety selection and development.
Identify potential new area / geography for malting barley growing, especially in Ahmara region. Re-evaluate the current testing and growing zones from the agri-potential perspective.
Conduct a regular field visit to the farmers field in each specific area. - Evaluate current barley seed distribution and malting barley collection modalities, and conduct competitive analysis and benchmarking in those matters, in collaboration with the zonal sourcing teams.
Partnering with the Supply Chain Manager, evaluate the feasibility and develop new upstream logistics management, direct collection and transportation solutions.
Review the process and performance of the pre-harvest yield assessments, in collaboration with the field agronomist teams.

Master we are looking for ?

Degree in Agronomy, plant science or other related field.
Minimum 3 years of proven experience in field work as agronomist, agricultural extension works etc. Specifically with an experience in advanced agricultural regions like Europe etc.
Fluently English spoken and written
Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
The assignment is for 2-3 years
