Description of role

As Barley procurement manager you are responsible for coordinate and execute the barley purchasing, for Boortmalt Punta Alvear Facility in Argentina.

Ensuring the procurement of 450 Ktonnes of Barley, at the most effective cost and quality to meet customer requirements and business targets, you are a sound decision maker with a high result and client oriented mindset.

Your core responsibilities will be to:

  • Gather market intelligence and share the relevant market information internally, identify opportunities, and coordinate/execute origination strategies.
  • Coordinate the purchases and logistics activities
  • Report barley purchases to administrate our positions and prices
  • Support the Barley procurement team and assist the Merchandising Manager and Supply chain area to guaranty the row material delivery and quantity
  • Liaise with operations and the technical team to ensure procured barley meets quality requirements
  • Maintain and develop relationships with external suppliers (farmers, merchants, cooperatives)
  • Follow and participate in the development and evaluation of new varieties linking with the Chief Agriculture Officer and the Latam merchandising Manager

Required skills

The person we are looking for has a proven experience of :

  • High school degree or equivalent, preferably in Agriculture/Trading.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience within an Agriculture/Commodities trading environment ideally with an intercultural mindset.
  • Knowledge of hedging and risk management strategies and familiarity with malting barley markets and trade (Global but with particular focus on Argentina)
  • Customer Relationship Mindset
  • Fluent Spanish and good English skills.
