Boortmalt (the malting business of the French cooperative group AXEREAL) is currently the 4th largest malting company globally with more than 1,1 million tonnes of malt sold throughout the world every year.

Currently in the process of the acquisition of Cargill's malt business, Boortmalt's employee number will soon double and its production capacity will reach 3 million tonnes per year, resulting in an even better market position.

The Continuous Improvement Manager will proactively contribute to the Company's success by driving sustainable year-on-year business performance improvements. This will be realised by working with site Operational Teams the CI Manager to drive our Operational Excellence program and develop further the application of continuous improvement tools and techniques.
The role is based in Bury St Edmunds and will include regular travel to our operations sites in the UK and Ireland with occasional travel to other sites in Europe. The focus of the role is to optimise the performance of our malting plants in terms of cycle times, quality, and cost. You will develop and drive the Company's Operational program (BOPEX) developing and utilising a suite of KPI's to measure our process capability and to set, benchmark and report our operational standards.
You will develop the relationships and influence at each site to champion BOPEX and to ensure that activities on site are carried out in accordance with the program. You will coach site teams in Continuous Improvement and will lead these teams in the development of operational tools and systems to improve and sustain our business.
Support sites in root cause analysis for out of specification results, recommend and support the implementation of effective corrective actions and preventative actions to avoid reoccurrence.
You will work with your peers and colleagues in the wider groups to share best practice and optimise group synergies. You will also participate in Group activities when applicable.
With an appetite for improving business performance the CI manager will challenge and explore opportunities in our full supply chain from field to customer.

Whilst based in Bury St Edmunds the role will involve regular travel to our sites in Yorkshire, Scotland and Ireland, with less frequent travel to the Head Office in Belgium and other operational sites.
The person we are looking for will have a post graduate qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement or significant equivalent experience in CI in processing or manufacturing industry.
They must be fully familiar and have experience in the successful application of Lean Manufacturing principles, Project Management and 6 Sigma Techniques.
Having held a managerial/leadership position candidates will be able demonstrate skills in leading, influencing and building positive relationships to engage colleagues at all levels and cross functionally in the application of CI management techniques.
The candidate will be familiar with quality systems such as ISO 9001, 14001 & 18001 and risk management principles such as HACCP.
