Boortmalt Group,
total quality and development

Worldwide beer consumption is increasing by 2.5% a year on average.
This significant increase, which may be slightly larger or smaller from one year to the next, has continued for 25 years in a row and is due to continue for the next 10 to 25 years. To meet consumer demands, brewers are boosting their business worldwide by merging & acquisitions and building new breweries. Upstream, Boortmalt is expanding and reinforcing its malt production, brewing barley supplies and logistical activities to satisfy its local, regional and international brewer customers.

Boortmalt currently produces 560,000 tons of malt in 4 malting plants across Europe and 1 in China.

The 520,000 tons we produce each year in Europe, is dispatched to the European Community, to European countries outside of the European Community, to South and Central America, to Africa and to Asia.

Developing in step with the market
The stable increase in beer consumption worldwide and the changing needs of brewers, due to their grouping together, announce a promising future for the development of the malt business. The last two campaigns have showed the strategic importance of brewing barley supplies. In this regard, Boortmalt intends to strengthen its position in its specialities: from barley production control right through to "customer dispatch" logistics.

Philippe Lehrmann - Chief Commercial Officer.
" Our strategy then is to assist and supply more high value malt to our key customers, in line with their demands. This is achieved through our barley sourcing abilities, state-of-the-art high-quality producing malt plant and obviously efficient logistics which once again give us an advantage over many other competitors in terms of export. The export market is the one that is expanding the most".
